The Opportunity

Fuchs Lubricants Co. is seeking a Human Resources / Payroll Generalist for our US and Canadian operations; this position will be based out of Harvey, IL. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and is responsible for all aspects of human resources and payroll administration. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Human Resources / Payroll professional with an eagerness to learn and regularly perform a broad spectrum of HR functions.

Responsibilities include:
• Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data using automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll
• Ensures compliance with all applicable state, local and federal laws
• Focuses on accuracy and timeliness in processes
• Works with team members to ensure all tasks are completed timely and accurately
• Researches and resolves all payroll inquiries and ensures payroll policies are followed
• Processes new hires, terminations, status changes, tax changes, deductions, direct deposits, time sheet data, rate changes, retroactive adjustments, involuntary deductions, and special pays
• Generates and distributes checks, including special pays
• Administers the payroll timekeeping system (e-time / Enterprise)
• Assists in recommendation, development and documentation of payroll procedures to improve efficiency
• Regularly performs a variety of HR functions to include:
o Provides administrative support to human resources function (e.g. offer letters, new hire paperwork, separation paperwork, annual mailing, record keeping, file maintenance, HRIS entry, maintain driver files, random DOT drug testing program, etc.).
o Provides recruiting and hiring support to the managers and HR Director including: creates and posts internal and external ads, conducts initial resume reviews and phone screening, schedules interviews and physicals, conducts background checks, etc.
o Administers employee health, welfare and retirement programs company-wide. Benefit programs include: pension, 401K, medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, workers' compensation, leave of absence, flexible spending (Section 125), group term and voluntary life insurance, etc.
o Acts as liaison between employee and insurance providers to resolve benefit related questions and ensure effective utilization of plans and positive employee relations.
• Performs other duties, as assigned


Qualifications:

Required
• BS/BA from an accredited university, preferably in a related field such as human resources, accounting, or business
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of Human Resources and / or payroll processing experience
• 3+ years experience / intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion and proven customer service skills while maintaining a confidential work environment
• Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Must possess sound decision making skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize while working in an environment of stress with specific deadlines
• Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to work under pressure
• Possess a sense of urgency to get things done
• Flexible personal style to work with diverse personalities, and ability to interface with and satisfy the needs of diverse groups-ranging from corporate to operations people
• Professional, yet personable demeanor and ability to effectively communicate information to employees and management
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a team oriented environment
• Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment
• Willingness and enthusiasm with regard to learning and performing HR and payroll related functions
• Must be able to gain a solid understanding of our business and all positions within the company within a very short period of time
• Willingness and ability to network with other HR / Payroll professionals and to become involved in HR/Payroll related groups and organizations
• Professional, yet personable demeanor and ability to effectively communicate information to employees and management


Preferred

• PHR certification
• ADP Payroll certification / CPP
• 2+ years experience administering ADP Enterprise / e-time or Ceridian
• Experience administering Canadian payrolls
• Knowledge of state and federal wage and tax laws and overtime requirements (FLSA guidelines)
• Knowledge of wage withholding orders and garnishments
• Payroll related benefits administration experience which includes transmission of 401k contributions, census reports, health insurance billing reconciliation, etc. and worker’s comp payroll reporting experience
• Graduate degree, a plus (MBA, MS/MA Human Resources, I/O Psychology, or related field)
• Human Resources experience related to benefits or recruiting (preferred)
